Our Changing Community (Steeple 2017.01)
As I reflected on 2016, in developing my annual report this month, I came to see the year that’s passed as a transitional one here at Edwards Church, the music program included. A year ago, we stood as three churches here in Framingham, seeing each other but a few times annually. A year ago, our accompanist Don Buell had not yet retired. A year ago, I had many steps to go on my journey toward becoming a Commissioned Minister of Music in the UCC. Now, I am on my final step of that process, defending my commissioning paper at an Ecclesiastical Council to be held here at Edwards on Wednesday, February 1, at 7:00 p.m. (all are welcome, and please tell your friends from other churches to attend!).
And, in light of these staff developments and community changes, we are firmly planted and looking to the sky with our newly unified family. I find we are positioned to determine who we want to be as a worshiping family and as a music program here at Edwards Church. I’m so excited to unveil 2017 for, using 2016 as proof, we never truly know what lies ahead at the beginning of a new year. As ever, if you have any questions about or suggestions for our ministry, please contact me directly, either at coffee hour, or by email.
